ADB–Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) 2026
The ADB–Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) is a fully funded graduate scholarship established in 1988 and financed by the Government of Japan. It aims to support talented students from developing member countries to pursue master’s degree studies in development-related fields. Each year, approximately 135 scholarships are awarded for study at designated institutions across Asia and the Pacific, including Japan.
This scholarship covers full tuition fees, a monthly subsistence allowance, books, medical insurance, and travel expenses. Scholars are required to return to their home countries after graduation to contribute to social and economic development.
Eligibility
Applicants must be citizens of ADB borrowing member countries eligible for Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA). They should not hold dual citizenship of any developed country, must have a bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record, and at least two years of full-time professional work experience. Additionally, applicants must be 35 years old or younger at the time of application and demonstrate proficiency in English.

Benefits
Covers full tuition fees, monthly subsistence allowance (including housing), books and instructional materials, medical insurance, and travel expenses (round-trip airfare). Additional support may include a thesis preparation grant and funding for language training or preparatory courses.
