Carnegie Masters Grants 2026/2027 for Low-Income Students in Scotland (Tuition Support)
The Carnegie Masters Grants are designed to improve access to postgraduate education in Scotland for individuals from low-income households. This funding initiative supports students pursuing taught or research master’s degrees at Scottish universities, ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder capable students from advancing their studies.
The grant provides financial assistance towards tuition fees not fully covered by the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) loan, as well as support for essential study-related expenses such as travel costs, childcare, and academic materials.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Carnegie Masters Grants, applicants must:
- Be ordinarily resident in Scotland
- Have a meaningful connection to Scotland
- Come from a lower-income household
- Hold an offer for an eligible taught or research master’s programme at a Scottish university
- Not already hold a master’s qualification
- Be studying full-time, part-time (minimum 0.5 FTE), or via distance learning.
Benefits
The grant covers tuition fees not fully covered by SAAS loans and may also assist with additional study-related costs such as travel, childcare, and academic materials.
