
CERN Doctoral Student Programme 2026 for International Students (Fully Funded)
The CERN Doctoral Student Programme offers doctoral students the chance to work on their thesis at CERN, one of the world's largest scientific institutions. Participants will engage in research in fields such as applied physics, computing, and engineering, contributing to groundbreaking projects. The program allows for a contract of 12 months, renewable up to 3 years, with the possibility of spreading the program over a maximum of 4 years.
Eligibility
Applicants must be nationals of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State, have a good knowledge of English or French, and be enrolled in a doctoral program in a relevant field. The home university must support the applicant's participation, and the research conducted at CERN should contribute to the applicant's PhD thesis.
Benefits
Recipients will receive a monthly allowance of 3,907 Swiss Francs (tax-free), 30 days of paid leave per year, comprehensive health insurance, family supplement, and travel expenses to Geneva.
