Coimbra Group Scholarship Programme 2026 for Sub-Saharan African Researchers (Short-Term Research Visits)
The Coimbra Group has announced its 2026 Scholarship Programme aimed at early-career researchers from Sub-Saharan Africa. This programme offers short-term research visits (1–3 months) at prestigious European universities, providing an opportunity for African scholars to advance their research and foster international academic collaborations.
Participants will benefit from fully supported research visits, access to advanced research facilities, and the chance to strengthen academic partnerships. Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply and will be prioritized in the selection process.
Eligibility
Applicants must be nationals and residents of Sub-Saharan African countries, born on or after 1 January 1981, and academic staff members at a university or equivalent institution. Preference will be given to those holding PhD/postdoctoral status. An acceptance letter from a supervisor at the host university is required, and candidates already living or studying in Europe are not eligible.
Benefits
The scholarship covers the costs of the research visit in Europe, including access to research facilities.
