The DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Programme aims to strengthen higher education systems in Sub-Saharan Africa by training highly qualified professionals and future university teachers. This scholarship allows scholars to pursue Master’s or PhD studies either in their home country or at top-tier research institutions within the African region.

The program offers comprehensive funding for the standard duration of the course, which generally lasts up to 2 years for Masters. It includes monthly stipends, research allowances, and full coverage of academic fees.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a national or permanent resident of a Sub-Saharan African country.
  • Hold a relevant first academic degree (Bachelor’s) with a strong academic record.
  • Demonstrate an interest in contributing to sustainable development and potentially pursuing a career in academia or research.
  • Female applicants and candidates from less privileged regions or marginalized groups are especially encouraged to apply.
  • No IELTS required.
