The DSTI-NRF Postgraduate Student Funding Programme for 2027 is designed to support students pursuing Master’s and Doctoral qualifications in various fields, including science, engineering, technology, social sciences, and humanities. This initiative aims to enhance postgraduate research capacity and develop skilled professionals who can contribute to national innovation and economic development.

Funding is available under two categories: Full Cost of Study (FCS) for financially needy students, students with disabilities, and exceptional achievers, and Partial Cost of Study (PCS) for a limited number of candidates. This program represents a significant opportunity for aspiring researchers to advance their academic qualifications.

Eligibility

Applicants must be South African citizens or permanent residents. For FCS, candidates should have a household income of R350,000 per annum or less, be living with disabilities, or be exceptional academic achievers. For PCS, candidates must meet academic requirements but may not qualify under FCS. A minimum of 65% in the previous degree is required.

Benefits

Funding covers tuition and associated study costs. Full Cost of Study is available for eligible candidates, while Partial Cost of Study is limited.
