The English and School Education Scholarships Scheme 2026 offers fully funded TESOL master’s degrees for teachers, including full tuition, a funded UK study visit, and professional development support. This initiative is designed to strengthen English language teaching across multiple countries while allowing participants to study online and continue working.

This programme supports experienced teachers and teacher educators working in government education systems by offering fully funded, part-time master’s degrees in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Participants will engage in advanced academic training, collaborative projects, and professional networking, all aimed at improving English language teaching standards in their respective countries.

Eligibility

To apply, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen and resident of Ghana, Kenya, Türkiye, Bangladesh, India, or Sri Lanka
  • Be an active English language teacher or teacher educator
  • Work within or directly with the government education system
  • Meet the academic requirements for the selected university programme
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to improving English language teaching
  • Be able to participate in online learning and programme activities
  • Be willing to remain engaged in their country’s education system after completion.

Ineligible applicants include:

  • Private-sector teachers not linked to government institutions
  • Individuals who studied in the UK within the last 5 years
  • Those currently receiving other UK-funded scholarships
  • British Council or UK government staff (and close relatives).
