The 2026 Digital Energy Challenge invites innovative small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to apply for funding in two categories: Partnership for collaborative projects in Nigeria and Tech Accelerator for innovative digital projects across 51 specified African countries. This initiative aims to support the development and implementation of digital and AI-enabled solutions in the energy sector.

Selected projects will benefit from grants, expert support, and networking opportunities, with a total budget of €827K allocated to the winners. This challenge is particularly focused on addressing common challenges faced by African utilities, making it a significant opportunity for local innovators.

Eligibility

Open to innovative SMEs with fewer than 250 employees and a turnover of less than €50M. Proposals from local African companies are strongly encouraged. Projects must be digital, innovative, and implementable within 12 months.

Benefits

Grants up to €400K for Partnership projects and up to €150K for Tech Accelerator projects, along with expert support and training.
