The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has opened applications for the 2026 cycle of its GROW programme — Global Research Opportunities for the South. This initiative offers funded research stays in Germany for early career and established academics from Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, and Asia. The programme is designed to strengthen research ecosystems in these regions while addressing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
GROW provides monthly stipends based on career stage, along with health insurance and travel allowances. This funding is crucial for researchers aiming to enhance their academic work and foster international collaboration.
Eligibility
Open to doctoral candidates, postdoctoral researchers, university teachers, and established academics from countries on the OECD DAC list. Applicants must hold a current position at a university or research institution in their home country. Women, socioeconomically disadvantaged individuals, and persons from underrepresented regions or groups are particularly encouraged to apply.
Benefits
Monthly stipends of €1,400 for doctoral candidates, €2,000 for assistant professors, and €2,150 for full professors. Coverage includes health, accident, and personal liability insurance, as well as a travel allowance. Supplementary funding is available for scholars with disabilities.
