The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS), also known as KGSP, is a fully funded scholarship program established by the Korean government in 1967. It offers opportunities for undergraduate, master's, PhD, and research programs for students from over 155 countries. This scholarship covers full tuition, flight tickets, health insurance, and a monthly stipend, along with a mandatory year of Korean language training before the degree begins.

With over 2,000 scholars selected each year, GKS is one of the most competitive and sought-after scholarships in Asia. However, applicants should be prepared for the challenges that come with studying in Korea, including a tough job market and the rigorous language requirements.

Eligibility

Applicants must be under 25 for undergraduate programs, under 40 for master's and PhD programs, and must have a minimum GPA of 80%. The scholarship is open to students from 155+ countries, and applicants must choose between the embassy track and university track for their application process.

Deadline: Sep – Oct 2025 for embassy track; Feb – Mar 2026 for university track

Benefits

Covers full tuition, flight tickets, health insurance, and a monthly stipend of ₩900,000 (approximately $660 USD).
