The LIT-Uganda Female STEM Student Teachers’ Scholarship aims to increase the number of qualified female science teachers in Uganda. This initiative is part of the broader Leaders in Teaching Uganda program, which seeks to transform secondary education through improved teacher quality and equity. The scholarship supports 1,000 female students pursuing a Bachelor of Science with Education (BScEd) across selected universities and teacher education campuses in Uganda.

This program not only provides financial support but also addresses systemic gaps in the education sector by empowering women to enter STEM teaching careers. It promotes equity and inclusion, ensuring that young women have the opportunity to inspire the next generation of girls in STEM fields.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants include:

  • Female Ugandan citizens
  • Females with recognized refugee status in Uganda
  • Female youth with disabilities

Priority is given to:

  • Young women aged 18–35 years
  • Refugees and internally displaced persons
  • Persons with disabilities
  • In-service female science, technology, and mathematics teachers seeking degree advancement

Applicants must hold an admission offer for a Bachelor of Science with Education (BScEd) from specified universities or UNITE campuses.
