Sanctuary Scholarship Full Tuition Waiver

The Sanctuary Scholarship at the University of Glasgow is designed to support students with refugee or asylum seeker status currently residing in the UK. This scholarship provides a full tuition fee waiver along with additional financial support for living and study costs, enabling recipients to focus on their academic and personal development.

Available for both undergraduate and postgraduate taught students starting their studies in September 2026/27, this scholarship is a life-changing opportunity for refugees and asylum seekers to pursue higher education in the UK, helping them rebuild their futures and integrate into a supportive academic community.

Applicants must:

1. Hold a conditional or unconditional offer for full-time study at the University of Glasgow for 2026/27.
2. Be located in the UK with Home or RUK fee status.
3. Meet one of the following criteria regarding immigration status:
   • Submitted an asylum claim in the UK.
   • Actively appealing a negative asylum decision.
   • Granted Refugee Status, Humanitarian Protection, or Discretionary Leave.
4. Alternatively, come to the UK through resettlement schemes such as:
   • UK Resettlement Scheme (UKRS).
   • Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme or Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP).
   • Syrian Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme (VPRS).
   • Ukraine Sponsorship or Family Schemes.

The scholarship provides a full tuition fee waiver for the duration of the programme and a £5,000 per year stipend to assist with living and study costs. Note that accommodation costs are not covered.
