2026 WFP IGNITE Food Systems Challenge Rwanda
The 2026 WFP IGNITE Food Systems Challenge is designed for food systems innovators in Rwanda, offering up to $24,000 in equity-free funding. This program aims to support youth-led and young women-led ventures that are focused on creating jobs in agriculture and agribusiness. By addressing critical needs in the agrifood value chains, the challenge promotes scalable solutions that enhance production, reduce waste, and improve market access.
Selected ventures will benefit from five months of acceleration support, including technical assistance, coaching, and exposure at a Demo Day. This initiative not only provides financial backing but also fosters a collaborative environment where ventures can mentor Farmer Service Centres, thereby strengthening the overall food systems in Rwanda.
Eligibility
To apply, ventures must:
- Be registered in Rwanda for at least two years and generate revenue.
- Have a team of at least three full-time members, including founders.
- Ensure that at least 50% of the founding or senior management team is from Rwanda or East Africa.
- Commit to mentoring Farmer Service Centres.
Youth-led businesses, particularly those with a CEO or key decision-maker under 35, are encouraged to apply, especially if they are led by women.
Benefits
Up to $24,000 in equity-free funding per venture, along with five months of acceleration support including technical help and market linkages.
