
6th Big Data Africa School
The 6th Big Data Africa School is now open for applications! This year's thematic area focuses on 'Machine, Deep Learning and Novel Quantum Computing Techniques applied to Medical Imaging'. The school will take place in Cape Town, South Africa, from 4 – 10 October 2026, where students will work on real-life healthcare data sets to tackle significant challenges in medical imaging across the African continent.
This opportunity is designed for students registered at African universities who are in their 4th year BSc Honours, final year BEng, or pursuing a Master's or PhD in a science or engineering discipline. Participants will gain valuable skills and experience in data science and its application in healthcare.
Eligibility
Applicants must be students registered at an African university, currently undertaking their 4th year BSc Honours, final year BEng, Master's, or PhD degree in a science or engineering discipline. Intermediate to advanced programming skills are required.
Eligible countries include South Africa, Botswana, Ghana, Namibia, Kenya, Mauritius, Madagascar, Mozambique, and Zambia.
