
Advanced Biostatistics Training Program 2026 for West and Central African Scholars (In-Person Workshop)
The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) invites applications for the Second Cohort Regional Training Program in Advanced Biostatistics, focusing on survival analysis and multilevel modeling. This program is designed for scholars and junior scientists from West and Central Africa, including PhD candidates, postdoctoral fellows, and early-career researchers. Participants will enhance their skills in data management, statistical analysis, and scientific writing through an intensive five-day workshop in Dakar, Senegal.
The training aims to support fellows in developing a publishable scientific manuscript by utilizing relevant population health datasets. The program includes pre-workshop preparation, an in-person workshop, and post-workshop support to ensure comprehensive learning and application of advanced analytical techniques.
Eligibility
Applicants must be citizens and residents of a West or Central African country, affiliated with a university or research institution, and have a background in public health, demography, or related fields. A solid foundation in quantitative methods and basic proficiency in R or Stata is required. Applicants should submit a clear research concept and have access to a relevant dataset.
Benefits
Selected fellows may receive full sponsorship covering travel, accommodation, meals, and workshop materials. Some may be partially sponsored or self-sponsored with a contribution of USD 300, while institutional sponsorship may require USD 500.
