
Africa Fellows in Education Program 2026/2027 for Young African Researchers (Fully Funded)
The Africa Fellows in Education Program (AFEP) offers a prestigious, two-year, fully funded research fellowship aimed at empowering young African scholars to influence education policy through data-backed research. With a total funding package of up to $50,000, fellows will engage in high-impact research that drives policy changes across the continent.
Selected fellows will benefit from direct mentorship from Stanford University and leading African institutions, access to advanced short courses, and fully funded attendance at two international conferences focused on the economics of education.
Eligibility
Applicants must be:
- Nationals of a Sub-Saharan African country
- 35 years old or younger
- Hold a Master’s or PhD in a relevant field with a strong quantitative focus
- Experienced in quantitative data analysis
- Interested in education policy research
- Affiliated with a government, research, or higher education institution
- Proficient in English.

Benefits
Each fellow receives a $25,000 research grant, plus up to $25,000 in covered expenses for mentorship, conference travel, and in-country workshops.
