African Leadership Centre Fellowships 2026/27 for African Scholars (Degree-Awarding)

The African Leadership Centre is inviting applications for its prestigious fellowship programmes aimed at young African scholars passionate about leadership, security, and development. This fellowship spans eighteen months and combines rigorous academic research with impactful policy engagement, culminating in a six-month attachment at a leading African university or organization.

Fellows will gain academic knowledge, research skills, and mentorship training, while being connected to a network of distinguished experts in peace, security, and development. This opportunity is designed to empower scholars to impact discourse and practice in these critical areas.

Applicants must be young African scholars with a passion for leadership, security, and development. The fellowship is open to those pursuing a career in these fields.

The fellowship includes a six-month attachment and mentorship training. An associate fellowship bursary covers 25% of tuition fees and provides £5,000 for living expenses.
