
Astra Fellowship 2026 for AI Safety Researchers (Fully Funded)
The Astra Fellowship is a fully funded, five-month program aimed at accelerating research and talent development in AI safety. Hosted at Constellation’s Berkeley research center, this fellowship prepares the next generation of researchers to address the risks associated with advanced artificial intelligence systems. Participants will engage in high-impact research while receiving mentorship from leading experts in the field.
Fellows will benefit from a monthly stipend of $8,400, research funding for compute resources, and access to a dedicated workspace in Berkeley. The program is designed to support participants in transitioning into full-time roles in AI safety organizations or launching independent initiatives.
Eligibility
The fellowship is open to individuals motivated to reduce catastrophic risks from advanced AI. Ideal applicants may have technical or policy experience relevant to AI safety, be interested in empirical machine learning research or governance strategy, and come from diverse academic and professional backgrounds. Prior experience in AI safety is not required.
Benefits
Monthly stipend of $8,400, approximately $15,000 per month for compute resources, visa support for international applicants.
