The British Council 90th Anniversary Research Fellowships provide an exceptional opportunity for international early-career researchers from eligible countries to conduct advanced postdoctoral research at the University of Edinburgh. This prestigious fellowship offers generous financial support, including a monthly stipend of £2,500, along with travel expenses and academic mentoring.

Fellows will spend ten months in Edinburgh, followed by two months in their home countries focusing on knowledge exchange and dissemination activities. This program aims to strengthen international research collaboration and contribute to the British Council’s vision of fostering a more peaceful and prosperous world.

Eligibility

Applicants must be based in an ODA-recipient country where the British Council operates, hold a PhD or equivalent qualification, and have completed their PhD within the last seven years. They should be classified as early-career researchers with a strong academic record and a commitment to knowledge exchange and public engagement. Eligible countries include Zimbabwe, Zambia, Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Malawi, Mozambique, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Colombia, and others.
