The Digital Energy Challenge Call for Projects 2026 is an initiative aimed at supporting innovative start-ups and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Africa's energy sector. This program provides funding and technical support for projects that leverage digital technologies to enhance energy access and efficiency.
With a total funding pool of €827,000, the challenge offers two tracks: Partnership Projects and Tech Accelerator Projects, catering to various stages of project development. Selected participants will also benefit from expert guidance, networking opportunities, and increased visibility in the energy sector.
Eligibility
Applicants must be small or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with fewer than 250 employees and an annual turnover below €50 million. Projects must be digital in nature and demonstrate innovation. For Partnership Projects, collaboration with the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) in Nigeria is required.
Benefits
Total funding of €827,000 available. Partnership Projects can receive up to €400,000, while Tech Accelerator Projects can receive up to €150,000. Additional benefits include technical assistance and networking opportunities.
