The DPI Governance Africa Fellowship 2026 invites a select group of early-career researchers from Africa to critically examine how technology influences power, rights, and daily life. This three-month remote program offers a unique opportunity to engage with pressing issues in digital governance and policy, providing fellows with the tools to turn critical insights into impactful policy recommendations.

Participants will undergo a structured program that includes foundational training in digital public infrastructure, hands-on research, and the development of advocacy tools. With only three fellowship slots available, this program is designed for those who are passionate about justice, inclusion, and accountability in the digital age.

Eligibility

  • Early-career researchers or emerging professionals
  • Interest in digital governance, policy, or human rights
  • Ability to conduct research and analyze policy documents
  • Comfort with engaging sensitive topics and communities
  • Commitment to inclusion, justice, and accountability
  • Ideally based in or connected to Kenya, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Rwanda, or Tanzania.

Benefits

Monthly stipend of $300 over three months (total $900).
