
Emerging Pasifika Writer in Residence
The Emerging Pasifika Writer's Residency offers a unique opportunity for early-career Pasifika writers to develop their craft within a supportive community. Established in 2019, this residency provides a writing room, mentorship, and a stipend of $15,000, allowing writers to focus on their projects while engaging with the vibrant literary community at the International Institute of Modern Letters (IIML).
This residency is specifically designed for Pasifika writers working in various literary forms, including drama, fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction. It aims to nurture emerging talent and promote Pasifika voices in literature, making it a significant opportunity for those looking to advance their writing careers.
Eligibility
Applicants must be early-career Pasifika writers, either New Zealand citizens or permanent residents. They should not be full-time employees of Creative New Zealand or the University, nor have been employed full-time by the University in the twelve months prior to the closing date. Current tertiary students are also ineligible.
Benefits
The residency includes a stipend of $15,000 to support the writer during their time.
