Fulbright–Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowships 2027 for Indian Ph.D. Scholars (Research in the U.S.)
The Fulbright–Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowships support Indian doctoral scholars in conducting advanced research in the United States. This program aims to strengthen academic capacity in both India and the U.S. by encouraging innovative and interdisciplinary research that addresses global challenges.
Fellows will have the opportunity to undertake research at U.S. academic institutions, audit non-degree courses, and gain exposure to professional environments that enhance their dissertation work and overall academic development.
Eligibility
Applicants must be registered for a Ph.D. at an Indian institution on or before 1 November 2025. The expected Ph.D. thesis submission date must be at least three months after the fellowship end date. Government employees and those who already hold a Ph.D. are not eligible. Candidates must submit a well-researched proposal aligned with the program's priorities.
