Gerda Henkel Fellowships 2026/2027 for Researchers
The Gerda Henkel Fellowship program, hosted by the Centre for Advanced Study Sofia (CAS Sofia), is designed for early-career researchers and postdoctoral scholars in the fields of humanities and social sciences. This fully-funded, five-month in-residence fellowship provides fellows with essential intellectual and material support, access to a vibrant academic network, and opportunities to engage in scholarly activities while working on their individual research projects.
Fellows will benefit from a monthly stipend, accommodation in Sofia, travel grants, and research allowances, making this a valuable opportunity for those looking to advance their academic careers and contribute to fundamental historical research.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Hold the nationality of Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, China (Tibet and Xinjiang), Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Ukraine, or Uzbekistan.
- Have obtained a Ph.D. in the humanities or social sciences.
- Preferably be under 45 years old and highly proficient in English.
