ICFJ+ Fellowship 2026 for Journalists in Kenya, Senegal, and South Africa (Fully Funded)
The ICFJ+ Reporting on Literacy and Numeracy Fellowship 2026 aims to empower journalists, content creators, and media professionals in Kenya, Senegal, and South Africa. This fellowship addresses the critical issue of foundational learning in sub-Saharan Africa, where many children struggle with basic literacy and numeracy skills. Participants will enhance their storytelling abilities while focusing on solutions to these pressing educational challenges.
Over six months, selected fellows will engage in training, mentorship, and hands-on reporting experiences. They will receive financial support for reporting, individual mentorship, and access to a network of professionals, all aimed at producing impactful journalism that drives change in education policy and practice.
Eligibility
This fellowship is open to media professionals based in Kenya, Senegal, and South Africa, including journalists, freelance reporters, content creators, and social media influencers focused on public interest issues. A strong interest in education, social policy, or development reporting is essential. Prior experience in education reporting is advantageous but not mandatory.
