MacArthur launches Nigeria youth programme tackling Global North-South Ai gap
The US-based MacArthur Foundation has launched a Nigeria youth initiative aimed at improving digital literacy and enhancing the voices of young Nigerians in civic and public life. This initiative, named 'Nigeria Next', seeks to address the widening Global North-Global South AI divide through a combination of grants and impact investments.
With around 60% of Nigeria's population under the age of 30, the initiative focuses on equipping the youth with the necessary digital skills to participate fully in the digital economy, as only 7% currently possess these skills. By supporting research hubs and mentoring programs, the foundation aims to empower young Nigerians to engage in global AI policy discussions.
Eligibility
This opportunity is primarily aimed at young Nigerians, particularly those under the age of 30, who are seeking to enhance their digital skills and participate in the workforce.
Deadline: Ongoing
Benefits
The initiative includes grants and impact investments to support digital literacy programs and research hubs.
