
NRF–SSHRC Seed Grants 2026 for Researchers from South Africa and Canada (Collaborative Research)
The NRF–SSHRC Seed Grants aim to support collaborative research projects between South African and Canadian universities. This initiative emphasizes the importance of international partnerships in addressing complex global challenges through innovative research and knowledge exchange.
The program will fund up to eight projects, each led by Principal Investigators from both countries, focusing on key themes such as environmental sustainability, artificial intelligence, and just societies. This is an excellent opportunity for researchers to enhance their networks and contribute to impactful research.
Eligibility
Applicants must hold a PhD and be affiliated with a recognized postsecondary institution in South Africa or Canada. Proposals must be submitted jointly with a counterpart from the partner country.
Benefits
Funding will support early-stage collaborative research projects, with each project lasting between 24 to 36 months.
