
PMAFF Performing Arts Grant 2026 for Chicago Arts Organizations (Up to $250,000 Funding)
The PMAFF Performing Arts Grant aims to strengthen Chicago's performing arts ecosystem by funding the creation and development of original, bold, and culturally relevant performance works. This initiative supports organizations that push artistic boundaries in theatre, dance, music, and multidisciplinary performance, focusing on community impact and empathy-building.
This grant program is structured in two phases: the first phase supports the development and creation of new works, while the second phase invites selected organizations to apply for renewal funding for production and marketing. The initiative emphasizes the importance of the arts in fostering social connection and cultural transformation.
Eligibility
Eligible organizations must be:
- U.S.-based nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status
- Arts-focused organizations where performing arts is the primary mission
- Located in Chicago or surrounding suburbs (Cook County)
- Operating continuously since January 1, 2023
- Organizations with annual budgets of up to $10 million
- Groups producing original performance work (theatre, dance, music, or multidisciplinary forms)
Non-Eligible Applicants:
- For-profit or commercial organizations
- Individual artists or fiscal sponsor applications
- Organizations funded by PMAFF since January 1, 2023
- Organizations outside Chicago/Cook County
- Projects that adapt existing works
Benefits
Grants of up to $150,000 for development and creation; up to $250,000 for production and marketing in the second phase. All funds must be utilized within three years.
