Request for Proposals: Generic Drug Repurposing

Coefficient GivingGlobalGrantsDeadline: Posted

Coefficient Giving is launching a Request for Proposals (RFP) to fund clinical repurposing trials of generic drugs aimed at addressing high-burden yet neglected diseases in low- and lower-middle-income countries (LMICs). This initiative seeks to leverage existing generic medicines that have well-characterized safety profiles and are already registered with regulatory authorities, thus offering a faster and more cost-effective route to new treatments.

The RFP aims to support projects that can demonstrate clinical evidence of efficacy for repurposed therapies, with a total budget of up to $20 million USD available for funding. Proposals are encouraged from researchers worldwide, particularly those that can address significant disease burdens and utilize locally available medicines.

Eligibility

Applicants must have past or current experience with human clinical research and must be based anywhere in the world. Proposed therapies must be approved for human use by a WHO-Listed Authority. Institutions must have an Institutional Review Board or Ethics Review Committee in place. Proposals must follow WHO or other regulatory standards for Good Laboratory Practice and Good Clinical Practice.

Benefits

Up to $20 million USD available for funding multiple proposals, with no maximum size for individual proposals.
