
Research Development Fellowship 2026/27 for African Researchers (Up to £47,000 Funding)
The Research Development Fellowship Programme is designed to support emerging African researchers tackling critical human health challenges. This prestigious fellowship offers international exposure, advanced training, and mentorship opportunities at leading research institutions, enhancing the capacity of early-career researchers.
Fellows will benefit from a 3–9 month placement in top research institutions across the UK, Europe, or Africa, along with financial support of up to £47,000. This fellowship not only provides funding but also additional support at the fellow’s home institution, fostering technical expertise and global research collaboration.
Eligibility
Applicants must be early-career researchers (post-doctoral scientists or clinicians) who are nationals of and employed in an African country. They should possess higher academic or professional qualifications and be actively engaged in research addressing significant human health challenges.
Benefits
Funding covers travel, accommodation, subsistence, and training costs, but does not reimburse salaries during the fellowship period.
