
Rockefeller Foundation and Global Energy Alliance Commit Over $100M to Expand Electricity Access Across Africa
The Rockefeller Foundation and the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet have committed over $100 million to support the Mission 300 programme, aimed at connecting 300 million Africans to electricity by 2030. This initiative is crucial for addressing the electricity access gap in Africa, which remains a significant barrier to economic development.
The funding will not only finance infrastructure but also provide technical assistance to strengthen government capacity and mobilize additional investments in national electrification programs across nearly two dozen African countries. This commitment represents a significant step towards achieving sustainable energy access and fostering economic opportunities across the continent.

This opportunity is aimed at governments and organizations involved in electrification efforts across Africa. It is particularly relevant for countries participating in the Mission 300 programme, which includes Benin, Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of Congo, Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritania, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Togo, Uganda, and Zambia.
