
The African Union Youth Volunteer Corps (AU-YVC) 2026 for young Africans (Fully Funded)
The African Union Youth Volunteer Corps (AU-YVC) is a flagship continental Youth Leadership program that recruits, trains, and deploys young African professionals from all 55 AU Member States to serve as professional volunteers for a period of 12 months. This initiative promotes volunteerism and enhances the participation of young people in Africa's development goals, aligning with the AU Agenda 2063.
Participants will engage with high-level continental policies and programs, network with young leaders across Africa, and gain valuable experience while contributing to the continent's development. This opportunity not only empowers youth but also fosters a sense of community and collaboration among African nations.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Citizen of an AU Member State living on the continent or in the Diaspora.
- Aged 18 – 35 years (must be under the age of 35 upon completing 12 months service).
- Have post-secondary certified qualification(s) (TVET, Bachelor’s, master’s, etc.).
- Available in 2026/27 to dedicate 12 months for professional volunteer service.
- Willing to live and work in another AU Member State.
- Proficient in at least one AU working language (Arabic, English, French, Kiswahili, Portuguese & Spanish).
- At least one-year verifiable volunteering experience and one-year professional work experience.
Benefits
The African Union Commission will cover the full costs of pre-deployment training and subsequent volunteer deployment. Benefits include:
