
TWAS-CSIR Postgraduate Fellowship Programme 2026 (Fully-funded)
The TWAS-CSIR Postgraduate Fellowship Programme is designed for foreign scholars from developing countries who wish to pursue research toward a PhD in emerging areas of science and technology. This fellowship is tenable in CSIR research laboratories and institutes in India for a maximum period of four years, allowing applicants to either register for a PhD in their home country or enroll in a PhD course at any university in India.
This opportunity not only supports academic growth but also fosters international collaboration in scientific research, making it a significant step for scholars aiming to contribute to their home countries' development through advanced studies.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Maximum age of 35 years on 31 December of the application year.
- Nationals of a developing country (other than India).
- Must not hold any visa for temporary or permanent residency in India or any developed country.
- Hold a Master’s degree in science and technology.
- Be regularly employed in their home country with a research assignment.
- For SANDWICH Fellowships: Registered PhD students in their home country with a 'Registration and No Objection Certificate'.
- For FULL-TIME Fellowships: Willingness to register at a university in India within the first year.
- Acceptance at a CSIR laboratory/institution is required.
Benefits
The fellowship includes a monthly stipend to cover living costs, food, health insurance, and subsidized accommodation. Note that the stipend is not convertible into foreign currency.
