TWAS Research Grants Programme 2016 for Developing Countries (Up to $20,000)

TWASGlobalGrantsDeadline: Posted

The TWAS Research Grants Programme in Basic Sciences supports high-level research projects in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics. These grants are aimed at research consortia in 81 S&T-lagging countries, providing up to $20,000 for a period of 18 months to enhance research capabilities in developing nations.

This initiative encourages collaboration among researchers and aims to address the needs of institutions lacking appropriate research facilities. It is particularly focused on empowering academically able students and researchers from developing countries.

Eligibility

Applicants must be part of a research consortium led by a principal investigator (PI) who is a national of a developing country and holds a PhD with good research experience. Each member of the consortium must be affiliated with a university or research institution in one of the 81 eligible countries. Applications from women scientists and those in Least Developed Countries are especially encouraged.

Benefits

Grants amount to a maximum of USD 20,000, which can be used for purchasing scientific equipment, consumables, and specialized literature. Salaries, field expenses, travel expenses, laptops, and laboratory animals are not covered.
