UNCCD COP17 Media Reporting Fellowship 2026 in Mongolia
The UNCCD COP17 Media Reporting Fellowship 2026 is a fully funded program designed for professional journalists to report on critical issues related to land degradation and drought resilience. This fellowship supports six journalists to attend the UNCCD COP17 conference in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, from 17 to 28 August 2026, focusing on underreported stories about global land pressures.
The fellowship not only provides an opportunity to cover significant environmental issues but also promotes sustainable land stewardship worldwide. Selected fellows will engage with experts, participate in pre-COP briefings, and produce independent journalistic coverage that connects global conversations on land and drought to local realities.

Applicants must be professional journalists (staff or freelance) with a strong track record in reporting on environment, climate, agriculture, or related fields. They should work with a recognized media outlet and be based in countries affected by desertification, land degradation, and drought. Strong English proficiency is required, and selected fellows will represent various regions and languages, including the six official languages of the United Nations.
