The UNCCD COP17 Media Reporting Fellowship 2026 invites applications from international journalists to cover the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. This fully funded fellowship provides a unique opportunity to report on critical issues related to land degradation, drought, and environmental resilience.

Selected journalists will attend pre-COP virtual briefings and interact with experts, local communities, and specialists during the event. Each fellow is expected to maintain full editorial freedom and integrity while submitting at least three stories linking global issues to local contexts.

Eligibility

Professional journalists (staff or independent) with a proven track record covering environmental, climate change, agriculture, or related topics. Applicants must be located in countries affected by drought and land degradation.

Benefits

Covers all costs, including a return flight to Mongolia and accommodation.
