
UNDP African Academy for Women in Political Leadership 2026 (Fully Funded)
Applications are open for the UNDP African Academy for Women in Political Leadership 2026. This inaugural cohort aims to build the next generation of women leaders in Africa through a fully funded, four-week blended programme that combines virtual learning with a residential convening in Kigali. Selected participants will engage in high-impact learning, mentorship from senior leaders, and practical leadership experiences.
The curriculum includes topics such as political leadership, strategic communications, coalition-building, and ethical governance, preparing women to effectively govern and lead in their communities.
Eligibility
Women currently holding or credibly pursuing elected or appointed political office in Africa. Eligible profiles include:
- Electoral Cycle Leaders: Women from countries with upcoming elections.
- Sitting Political Leaders: Cabinet Ministers, MPs, Mayors, and senior political party leaders.
- Young Women Leaders: Women aged 21–35 with political leadership potential.
Baseline requirements include being a female citizen of an African Union Member State, aged 21 or older, and having a formal endorsement from a political authority.
