The UNESCO Equatorial Guinea Fellowship Programme is a fully funded opportunity aimed at supporting exceptional young African women in the life sciences. This initiative seeks to bridge gender and regional gaps in scientific research by providing financial support and promoting equal opportunities for women in science across Africa.

This fellowship not only advances scientific research but also empowers young women scientists, aligning with UNESCO’s commitment to fostering science, innovation, and gender equality, particularly under its Priority Africa and Gender Equality global priorities.

Eligibility

  • Must hold African nationality and conduct research at a recognized laboratory in Africa.
  • Must be under 45 years of age at the time of application.
  • Must hold a PhD in the field of life sciences.
  • Engaged in scientific research within the field of life sciences, focusing on advancing knowledge and contributing to sustainable development.
  • Only Governments of African Member States, in consultation with their National Commissions, can submit applications.

Benefits

  • $25,000 grant per fellow to advance research.
  • Total of $50,000 awarded annually to two young women.
