
UNESCO Internship 2026 for Students and Recent Graduates (International Development Experience)
The UNESCO internship within the Social and Human Sciences (SHS) Sector offers students and recent graduates a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in international development, policy research, and global cooperation. Interns can work at UNESCO Headquarters, field offices, or affiliated institutes for a duration of one to six months, contributing to critical areas such as social inclusion, gender equality, and ethical governance of technology.
This internship is designed as a learning and development opportunity, allowing participants to engage in research, policy analysis, and project implementation. Interns will enhance their skills in communication, teamwork, and problem-solving while gaining valuable insights into the workings of international organizations.
Eligibility
Applicants must be at least 20 years old and fall into one of the following categories:
- Currently enrolled in the third or final year of a Bachelor’s degree
- Enrolled in a Master’s or PhD programme
- Recent graduate (within the last 12 months)
Students in technical or vocational programmes are also eligible if they meet similar criteria. Proficiency in English or French is required.

Benefits
Internships are unpaid, and candidates are expected to cover their own travel, accommodation, and living expenses. Interns receive 2.5 days of leave per month and limited insurance coverage.
