World Health Organisation Climate and SRH Grant

World Health OrganisationGlobalGrantsDeadline: Posted

The World Health Organisation (WHO) is inviting research teams from Kenya and other low- and middle-income countries to apply for grants of up to $55,000 (approximately KSh 7.1 million). This initiative aims to generate community-centered evidence on how climate-related events such as extreme temperatures, floods, and drought affect maternal health, gender-based violence, contraception, and other reproductive care.

This grant is crucial as it addresses the significant impact of climate change on sexual and reproductive health and rights, which is increasingly recognized as a major global health threat. By supporting research in communities most affected by climate change, the WHO aims to empower these communities to define and address the challenges they face.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants include research teams based in institutions or organizations in low- or middle-income countries, particularly those in Kenya. This includes community organizations, civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations with a research function, academic institutions, and multi-institutional consortia. The principal investigator and core research team must be based in-country, and collaboration with international institutions is encouraged but they cannot be the lead applicant.

Benefits

Grants of up to $55,000 per selected team will be awarded to support the implementation of the research protocol. WHO will also cover economy-class travel and accommodation for up to two team members to attend a protocol development workshop in Geneva.
